FULL PERSONALITY.
*Dedicated:
Darlah is a very dedicated person, especially when it comes to work. She doesn't like to leave loose ends and she'll do all she can to make sure everything that needs taken care of is taken care of. She is married to her work and doesn't care what anyone thinks about that. Hey, at least she's successful. Part of that is because she is in New York on a working visa, as she is not American. She's not going to give anyone an excuse to send her out of the country. But a lot of it was also how she was raised. Her father works as a lawyer and a pretty big deal in England and her mother is a stay at home trophy wife. Darlah inherited her work ethic from her father, which her mother dislikes greatly, thinking that women in her family are above such things.
*Stubborn:
This is often confused with dedication when it comes to Darlah, even for herself. If someone told her she was stubborn, she'd probably say that she was just dedicated or knew what she wanted. The truth is, Darlah is very stubborn. She has a difficult time admitting when she's wrong and will argue and argue until someone else gives in. Sometimes this is a good thing for her since she can get what she wants a lot of the time, but most times it's just frustrating for her and other people, especially when it turns into an argument with someone she cares about. With being stubborn, comes the uncanny ability to hold a grudge. She has a difficult time forgiving people unless you're the right person and even then if you do something she has a tendency to bring it up later when she's mad again, even if she's said she's over it.
*Touchy-feely:
It isn't that she wants a lot of attention, it's just that Darlah likes to be touched and not necessarily in a romantic fashion. She just likes being around people. She likes holding hands or just being physically close. She isn't a whore or a slut or anything, she just likes that physical connection. It gets worse when she's drunk, and it doesn't take much to get Darlah intoxicated. This is also especially true in relationships. She highly encourages public displays of affection when she's dating someone.
*Secure (physically):
Darlah loves her body. She thinks she's a little on the short side, but that's nothing a pair of heels won't fix. She dresses professionally for work, but she likes to wear clothes that are form-fitting. She's just very comfortable in her skin. The only thing she doesn't like is the gap in her top front teeth, but only when people comment on it. Until recently she thought that it gave her character, but when people in the States started pointing it out she got a little defensive about it. Other than that, she's perfectly content with the body she has.
*Pro-Supe Rights:
She isn't American, so she can't vote, but she is very Pro Supernatural Rights. Darlah wrote an article when the vampires and werewolves came out about the VWRA and how they should be accepted all over the world. She got a lot of hate mail about that and was fired from the magazine, but was picked up by another one straight after, allowing her to stay in the States. Her view on the situation is yes, vampires and werewolves can be kind of scary, but they are at least a portion human or were once human and shouldn't lose those rights. The supernatural beings actually sort of intrigue her, though she doesn't go out looking for them.

mother - Jennifer Knight - human
SIBLINGS. none – only child
BIRTHPLACE. London, England

PETS. none
FULL HISTORY.
Darlah was a single child to Ethan and Jennifer Knight. She was spoiled and definitely a daddy’s little girl. Getting what she wanted from her father was easy, the same couldn’t be said for her mother, who seemingly disliked the little girl with a passion that Darlah never did understand. It was revealed to her one night when she was young that her mother had wished for a little boy and thought that originally Darlah had been a male child. Darlah liked to play in the dirt, she liked playing with the other little boys and she definitely showed at a young age that she liked to do things her way. She was definitely one to ask questions (and while all children generally do ask a million and three questions, Darlah went above and beyond and practically drove her mother insane. Ethan thought it was hysterical.
Ethan was a lawyer of sorts and frequented the Parliament Building; the family lived in London and had for generations. This often had Jennifer upset but she couldn’t deny that she wanted Darlah out of her hair. Often Darlah would hear her mother ask for another child, a brother for Darlah. Ethan always reasoned that one was enough. Darlah was enough for anyone to handle. Yet she was the favorite little girl of all the people she met at Parliament and anywhere her father took her.
By the time she entered high school she was fluent in English (of course) and Italian. Almost all kids in England were at least bilingual. As Darlah entered high school - at the very early age of thirteen - Ethan insisted that she add another language to make her trilingual. Darlah chose German despite the fact that it sounded like an angry language to her. She attended a private school set up more like a college campus than a high school, with dorms and everything. Her father visited several times a term, but she rarely ever saw her mother. Her life passed somewhat normally, though she was teased a bit as she grew into her body (or rather, didn't grow). She graduated school at seventeen and began attending a university, which she graduated from with a degree in English specialized in writing at the age of twenty-one. She was a smart young woman and almost immediately accepted a position in the States at a magazine company. She applied for the working visa and as soon as it went through she was on a plane. It killed her father to see her go but her mother seemed to be overjoyed at this new development.
The first magazine company Darlah worked for was one based mostly on celebrity gossip. She worked her way up the ladder quickly though the idea of writing about people she barely knew didn't appeal to her. Two years into her career she took a risk and wrote an article on the VWRA, declaring that vampires and werewolves were not so different from humans. The heads of the magazine reluctantly published the article, which was followed by bad reviews, not because of the writing but because of the content. Darlah was “let go,” but was almost instantly hired by a more political magazine. When she went in for her interview at a dark and cold one o'clock in the morning, she was less than surprised to find that the owners of the magazine were made up mostly of vampires. She was hired and began working for “Edge of Truth” magazine (ETM).
Darlah slowly began learning more and more about vampires and werewolves, though she had to admit her fascination was more with the fanged ones as she was spending more time with them. It was unavoidable; she worked with vampires, she attended the parties at work with the vampires (and humans and the few werewolves that worked there), and eventually, she started letting them feed from her, though she still refuses to call herself a blood doll. Darlah will tell you she doesn't belong to anyone.

Her eyes closed and then tightened as he bit down. There was always a little pain at first, always, but it went away quickly so it didn’t bother her. But she also always braced herself for that sharp, initial, pain. She held onto Damian’s arm as he drank, using it partially for support as she focused on breathing. She could feel her blood leaving her body, normal except she was somehow more aware of it because it was Damian’s lips on her neck. She kept her eyes closed through the entire feeding, not something she normally did but she thought if she opened them she’d lose focus. She could feel her body getting weak but that was normal - she expected that. What was a little weakness to keep Damian awake? She was tough, she could live through it; that’s what she told herself anyway.
When he was finished he turned her around to look at him. She blinked a few times, trying to get her eyes to adjust again to the darkness and lack of blood. She was a little dizzy, again that was to be expected. Usually she would have time to rest after being bitten, but they couldn’t afford to lose any time. “Just, give me a minute,” she said, trying to steady herself, still holding onto him for support. “Normally, I’d be resting in my office after something like that,” she admitted, closing her eyes again for a moment before opening them and taking in a deep breath.
Ecko was about to say they should keep moving but he was still looking at her, explaining now that he hadn’t ignored her question about London. She nodded. “I figured. I could tell you were in a hurry.” She smiled and moved away slightly so they could walk, finding that she was a little wobbly on her feet at the moment but could in fact stand on her own. She held onto Damian’s hand for support anyway, knowing fully well the unsteadiness would wear off eventually.
She laughed as he mentioned his least favorite part of London and nodded her head in agreement. And then he asked about her favorite and least favorite part. “Walking through a sewer is definitely not something I had ever thought I’d be doing. It’s damp, dark, and gross and definitely my least favorite part of London, even if it is a part that I’ve never seen before and so it’s entirely new.” She breathed another laugh at that last part.
“As for my favorite part,” She smiled as she looked forward, not wanting to admit that her favorite part was where his lips were on her neck. “The company would have to be it. It’s probably the only reason I’m enjoying London at all.” She didn’t mention it was also the reason she was staying as long as she was. She didn’t mention that she would probably be back in New York right now if it wasn’t for him being there.
She thought about how long it would have taken them to get back to the hotel on foot above ground. “It would have taken us about an hour or so on foot with me walking before we were in the sewer,” she laughed a little at that last part, finding it amusing from either lack of sleep or insanity. “I’m guessing it will take about half an hour or more longer down here since we’re sort of cut off from all shortcuts.” She paused and then added “Let’s look on the bright side - we don’t have to worry about cars running us over on the street.”
Ecko turned to him, continuing to walk. “How long can you last on that blood?” she asked, wondering if he’d need to feed again before reaching the hotel. She wasn’t sure how long it would take for it to be safe to drink from her again, though she probably would insist on it anyway if it came to that. She also wasn’t so sure about her estimation on how long it would take to get to the hotel. What if they got lost and were down here longer? She didn’t want to find out what would happen if a vampire went too long without feeding.
