Overall Personality:
Markus is very precise and cautious of himself and his surroundings. He thinks heavily on what others say and is sometimes critical of view points that don't match his own. This sometimes comes off as arrogance, but he is just protecting everything that he has worked hard for.
He is usually quiet, also a trait thought of as being snobby, but he is weighing and calculating the options and words, expressions and movements of others. If he is angry, he rarely shows it unless his unlife, reputation or money is at stake. He doesn't believe in getting even, instead he believes in squishing those in any way he can. If you end up on his bad side, you will remain on his radar until he deems fit.
Though there is another side of Markus that so few see. Only those closest to him and most trusted will see the relaxed, carefree and fun Markus. The relaxed Markus is confident, enduring/loving to those who have earned it and even a little cheeky in his flirtatious nature.
Relatives: Grace -Childe
Overall History:
The year is 1295 when Markus is born. He is the second born out of five children under his parents Alexander and Lucia. At this time Rome saw the birth of Humanism in European philosophy. It was a movement away from the idea that everything and everyone had a place within the Church.
He was born at end of "The Middle Ages" and the beginning of the Renaissance time period. If Markus had been born years earlier, his natural drive for success and ambition may have been seen not as inquisitive and expressing oneself, but as pure threat to those in power.
Throughout the 1300s, the city Markus was born in was riven by factional strife due to the church and struggle with the French King. Markus' father was a blacksmith as was his father before him and his father before him. It wasn't exactly the life Markus wanted for himself, so he knew from a young age that he would have to find some way to change the track his life currently cruising along on.
The opportunity arose when he was too young to realize it. In 1303 Rome made a university in which most upper class and nobles attended. Markus of course would never be able to go to the university, but it was a sign of changing times. A sign that almost anything was possible and eventually it would be.
At twenty-two he took a bride by the name of Carina. Between the ages of 25 and 27 they have two children; both female. He takes over his father's blacksmith business at the age of 28 due to the man's death. His mother moves in with his wife and he to take care of the children and for her to take care of her. Markus is certain he will never attain a different station in life due to having children and now running the business he didn't want.
In 1327, when Markus is 32 and the Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV invades Italy and declares Pope John XXII deposed. Markus is among those who help invade Italy and it is in this very battle that he knows he has to do something to change his destiny or when they return to Rome he will have no choice but to become a blacksmith.
He would never get to be able to do anything grand, but his path in life will change. In the still of night men were beginning to disappear or die in mysterious ways. It was rumored Gypsies had something to do with this, but there never was any proof of such claims. On the third night in Italy, Markus is savagely attacked and left for dead.
He doesn't remember much about the one who made him into a vampire, as it was assumed he was dead. Instead he awakes to attack some of his closest mates, engorging himself within their blood. He never returns to Rome or his family after he is created.
While this wasn't the life he had wanted for himself, Markus adapted well to his unfortunate circumstances. It was a life, different from the one he was destined to fall into, so he had no choice but to adapt. The idea of feeding didn't bother him any, after all he had to do what he had to to ensure his existence and survival. Being trained as a soldier (even if those of lower class were expected to die) gave him the drive to succeed and ensure that he didn't die-even if it was predetermined most peasants would die.
At first he wasn't too careful with his meals, he left a trail of bodies drained of blood which caused some distress in Italy but it was disregarded around 1340 as the plague hit Italy. People were dying everywhere, so many didn't think anything of a human ending up dead.
During the 1300's and throughout the early 1400's, Markus travels throughout Europe, visiting every town that is hit with the plague to keep his feeding habits low key. While he doesn't care about the idea of death or bringing death to others, he doesn't want a 'witch hunt' on his hands either.
After the plague ends, the 1500's are low key for Markus. With all sorts of reformations going on, he deems it wise to keep a low profile. People are inquisitive and angry at the time and he doesn't want their anger turned on him.
In the 1600's there is talk of new lands to be sought.
In 1630 Markus arrives at Cape Cod with the Puritans. His belief that he will have free reign to do with humans as he'd like with so few royalty in the America's. At first he finds hunting easily manageable, but as more people arrive Markus is forced out of the bigger townships and into the woods to keep his true identity hidden.
The late 1600's start the Salem Witch trials and Markus goes into hiding once again. He learns how and when to eat to not try and draw attention to himself.
This time is one of the most trying for Markus as most nights he doesn't feed in fear of being revealed for what he truly is. Markus mostly survives off Native Americans at this time and he feels that most of the massacres done to new settlers were on his behalf. He is irritated that more people are dying than arriving due to his newly acquired taste and so he relocates to the Southern colonies.
The late 1700's work to Markus' benefit as well, given the turmoil the colonists feel towards Europe. When humans are fighting things like taxes and freedoms, Markus is able to return to his normal feeding habits and has an epitome to take possessions off those he feeds from as well. This starts his wealth.
In 1803 Louisiana is purchased and brought into the America's. Markus relocates to the south to keep interested eyes off the man who never seems to never age. With his wealth he attains a large estate and keeps slaves not for the purpose of slaves but for feeding. He learns during these years that you don't necessarily have to kill those you feed on if they aren't aware of what you are doing. Unfortunately this seemingly brilliant idea of his will get him into trouble when his servants realize he doesn't age and keeps odd hours.
Eventually he kills all but one; Grace within his estate and relocates to Tennessee with her. Again war is destined to fall upon the America's and this is ideal feeding time again for Markus.
Markus keeps a low profile after the civil war until the year 1909; Grace and Markus going their separate ways around this time. Markus decides to invest his money and time into the stock market and to keep an eye on things he move to Chicago. He resides in Chicago until after the Great Depression, loosing a lot of funds, but attaining a position as a Coven Leader in Las Vegas when the city of Sin starts to boom.
It is at this time he calls Grace back to his side, keeping her a secret from others for political and social reasons. He offers her a spot within his Coven, protection and funds if need be for her secrecy on their relationship. She keeps an eye on everything for him when he can't and reports back to him on anything she hears that has to do with Coven or vampire matters.
Markus is doing well for himself in Las Vegas, though though he lost funds years before moving to the city. Once he finds his way into the city of sin, it seems for every dollar he placed into stocks, his return was at least three fold. He made the most money when he placed stock in a company known as Microsoft in the 1980's. Money hasn't been much of an issue for Markus since then. He still enjoys putting money into companies to make more than he has and currently has stock in over a dozen companies within the United States and two in Europe.

Damian had thought about going to the bar after work, but if he were honest he wanted to avoid it for the evening. Nothing good came from that damned place and if things kept up, he was certain Ecko would either kill Vinus or him for his past and his feelings for Lavinia. While their relationship was in the past, his feelings still remained for the woman and Vinus knew that and Damian was beginning to think Ecko knew that too. He had tried to forget about the woman and had been doing a good job of it until Vinus showed up in his clothing and his cologne that Lavinia had within her closet. Now Damian was beginning to wonder about everything Lavinia had ever done and said to him, others and even to Ecko. Yet he couldn't go around trusting the word of a kid, not that Vinus seemed the type to lie, but he could be confused at what he knows, saw and heard from Lavinia. He still didn't like the woman for her actions the night before her wedding, regardless of the other feelings he had for her. It was hard to stop loving someone in the matter of a day, week or even a month and some time.
Going to Rome would be good for the both of them Damian decided as he exited the black luxury sedan and looked up at the building to see his penthouse. There were a few lights on, which surprised Damian but not enough to alarm the man any. His home was always open to those within his clan and those of his blood and he knew the man on the first floor wasn't going to let just anyone in. Damian made certain of that by setting up an arrangement with the man.
Damian was greeted by the man with a curt nod and his last name in which Damian gave the man a nod back and found his way into the elevator and heading up to his penthouse. With a quick stride out of the elevator, Damian's nose picked up the familiar scent of someone he knew very well and a grin appeared upon his face. He slid his key into his home and set his briefcase down by the floor, pulled off his tie and unbuttoned his suit coat as he made his way to the voices. His steps slowed as he approached them and his eyes narrowed for a split second to see...disaster.
It was everywhere on his table and Damian was not used to seeing papers everywhere on it, or on it at all. His office was tidy with papers in their place, so this had taken him completely aback. Damian cleared his throat to announce his presence to both women, a professional smile upon his face as he tried not to think about the mess in his home. Damian didn't realize how much his home would change with Ecko around now and suddenly he felt as if everything was being taken over by Ecko as he saw the mess on the table. Soon she would probably redo his entire penthouse and he liked how it looked. But he pushed that idea out of his mind as soon as it came, focusing on the two women before him.
"Good evening ladies." Damian finally spoke and gave them both a genuine smile. "I see you both have been making quite the ruckus this evening." Damian looked at both brunettes in front of him with a grin upon his face, trying to hide the images of purple couches, red table lamps and other hideous things in his home that filled his mind.
"How have you been Daria?" Damian moved over to the girl and placed a kiss on the top of her head. "Things are still well with Dorian?" Damian always asked about Dorian treating her well, though he had never given Damian a reason to dislike the man outside of his blood connection to Justinian. Still, Damian asked as a concerned father figure would every time they caught up.
"And how long have you been here, keeping Ecko from me?" Damian chuckled and looked at Ecko, then Daria as he grinned.
