Overall Personality:
Val prides herself on being trustworthy and loyal, but she can be a bit rebellious if she has to be. She would rather get in trouble for doing something that she believes is right than following the crowd in a belief that she feels is unjustified. In her late teens and early twenties she was a bit political, being a women’s rights activist and going to protests, but she has since settled down and is now practically the completely opposite. She’s very calm and easy going.
Mrs. March thinks of herself as focused. She practices relaxation and meditation techniques and prefers being outdoors to on the computer. She’s not very electronic literate, but she can work a cell phone and a lap top if she has to. She’s not huge on texting; she would rather hear someone’s voice than read the words on the little screen. She firmly believes that technology will be what ruins man kind.
She loves kids, but doesn’t have any. She ended up pregnant once but the birth of a stillborn was too much for her to handle. Now, when she sees happy families she’s sort of envious. Though she absolutely loves her husband, she’s too afraid to try to have children, fearing that it will turn out the same way.
Relatives: Jacob and Dianne Johnson (father and mother)
Overall History:
Until she was twenty-five, Valencia led a pretty normal life. Her family wasn’t poor, but they weren’t overly wealthy either. She was the only child of Jacob and Dianne. Jacob worked in real estate and Dianne was the stay-at-home mom. Val played soccer and was involved in theater, got straight A’s in high school and was an A/B average student in collage where she majored in art. She made jewelry, selling some of it on the side when she needed some extra cash, and painted for fun. If there was anything that could be said for Val, it was that she was artistic and free-spirited. In her late teens she got into protesting and started writing to the state senators about the economy and what sort of things should be changed. Somewhere in between the late teens and twenty-five, Val changed from activist to easy going, meditative woman.
That all changed when she met Alex. She hated Alex with a passion that a mob of angry protestors couldn’t match. It would only make sense then that he would be the man she would fall madly in love with. Hate transformed into a love that she couldn’t get out of… literally. A year after they had been together Alex dropped the bomb that he was a werewolf - something Val had never dreamed real. Werewolves were something you only saw in the movies, like vampires and Big Foot (the former which turned out to be actually real, she still wonders about Big Foot).
The news, quite honestly, terrified the girl. Somewhere inside of her she knew he couldn’t be lying (what kind of man would make something like that up?) but she didn’t want to believe it either. And she convinced herself that she wouldn’t until she actually saw him in wolf form. That turned out to be a bit more than she expected though. During the full moon he changed and bit her. She had been so frightened that her legs wouldn’t even move her. It was what made her go from Val: single child of Jacob and Dianne; to Val: single child of Jacob and Dianne oh and werewolf.
Still, at first she thought she wanted nothing to do with him and she stayed away. She didn’t want to be with someone who could lose control so quickly. But then she found out she was pregnant. It was her turn to spring some news on Alex. She went back to him and explained the situation. To her surprise the two got married. Since becoming a werewolf and now being pregnant, Val lost contact with her parents, not wanting to put them in the danger that was so new to her. She couldn’t shift at will and she didn’t want to shift at all. She wanted to go back to not knowing any of this was real, but she accepted the fact that she had been brought into this world and though she dislikes what it has done to her, she wouldn’t change it because it made her and Alex closer, in her opinion.
But the stress was too much and Val lost the child. She went into labor three months early. The child was stillborn. Val was crushed and went into a sort of depression for about a year. She refers to that year now as “The Year of Death” because her child had died and she felt like she might too. Despite the fact that she still had Alex (surprisingly he had not left her) she felt completely empty. She decided that they wouldn’t try for another child, completely afraid that since it did not work out this first time, it wouldn’t work out the next, and if she kept giving Alex dead babies, he might leave her. It was this fear of Alex leaving her that pulled her out of her depressed state and back into the world of life.
Later, she found out that Alex was planning his father’s death. It should have made the calm woman concerned, but his father had disapproved of their marriage and in Val’s mind, would probably put a hit on her if he thought he could get away with it. Instead of criticizing her husband, Val offered to help. The help was rejected and at first she was angry - why couldn’t he trust her with something like that? But she realized it was for her protection. Instead she became worried that something might go wrong and that Alex wouldn’t come back. As it turned out, she had nothing to really worry about.
Loup Garou accepted the couple together despite the fact that Valencia had been a bitten wolf. Now she tries everything she can to keep Alex happy. She’d do anything for her husband. The woman is always trying to find new ways to enter a meditative state, her latest addiction is warm tea, which she finds helps her relax.
