There has been a rumor, spreading among the wolves, that a new race of men has come to Fallon. That these men stand seven feet tall, with four arms, each capable of wielding a blade as artistically as Michelangelo wielded the brush, with two faces, one on the front and one on the back of the head, each with three mouths and no eyes, and with legs as fast and strong as the tigress. These men, so the rumor goes, have been snatching up wolves who wander too near the farms of men, and eating them after separating them from their hides, which they wear as clothing. And it seems, whenever someone tells the story of these men, another wolf will add to the tale, saying that they have heard that the men have been wandering deeper into the forest, and have even been so bold as to start stealing wolves from the streets of Dunfallon. So, the southernmost farms seem to be free of werewolves, and their presence throughout the rest of mankind’s farms have been decreasing as of late, for the monsters are said to live beneath the wheat fields, though some, perhaps of a different race but of a similar sort. Of course, the story isn’t the same everywhere, this is only the most common one. I have heard wolves say that they have seen men who stand nine feet tall, some say they have eight arms and weave webs, some have them suck blood and breathe fire, but every wolf seems to have a story that conveys the same message – fear the farmers. And indeed, the king of these men is said to be the Great Farmer, and that after seeing the wolves grow up among his people, he has come to pull them out like the weeds they are, sucking and draining life.
But really, who believes such things? It’s rather childish, don’t you think? Where did these monstrous men come from? Did they sprout from the ground or sail from across the Sea? Wouldn’t someone have seen that? No, such stories are superstitious ramblings of idiots. But one must realize that there is some truth to these rumors. Wolves have been disappearing from the lands around the farms, especially around the south farms. And no one seems to have any idea why or how this is happening. Of course, I know, but then again, I’m the one who has been taking them.
What have I been doing with them? Well, I’ll let you know, but that means that you’ll be bound to me and will aid in my crusade against the wolves. Of course, we’re not ready to go headlong against the wolves at the moment, I am not ready yet. You see, for the past twenty years, I have been working on a spell that removes the powers from werewolves, makes it so they cannot transform into wolves and lose most, if not all of their other strengths, powers and abilities – it castrates them and making them as low as, if not lower than common humans. I have reached near perfection – the spell is working fairly well, with near complete reliability, though there have been a few mistakes, a few times that it has failed to do anything at all, either that or some of the wolves seem immune. Still, soon, we will be able to assert our strength, and the wolf will learn to fear man once more, just as the dog fears its master.
